A Look Back...

The MPDC Officer in the middle is Sgt. Wm Corcoran Jr.,father of PGPD Retiree "Corky" Corcoran, #457. His father was trained in London, England (Scotland Yard) to become one of the first handler/trainers of K-9's in DC and trained some of PG County's first K-9 Officers at the old South Dakota Avenue site in Washington DC before PG had a training staff or site. Photo was taken in the mid 60's. The PG officers are Al Frank on the Left and Billy Hicks on the Right.

Seat Pleasant, Sgt Buzz Sawyer's Sqd.		On April 14,2014 Former members of our Training Div. Met to Celebrate The second Retirement of Ms. Becky Harden from the Charles County Sheriff's Office.	On September 28,2013 Brother Chuck Williams put together a dinner at Mama Stella's in Clinton for K 9 officers in the late sixties early seventies. Attending were; Charlie Neilson, George Kramer, Bill Richards, Ron Smith, Don Dement,Ray Reinhart, Charlie Richardson, John Luskey, Ron Francingues, Roger Linger, Chuck Williams, John Ammann, Lee Shoe, Brian Felter, Gary Prediger.
On November 9,2013 Past and present members of the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit met to celebrate the Twenty Fifth Anniversary of the Unit. Does anyone else remember the X restaurant called Chez Albert's mispronounced by the troops but was really called: " Shay Albare" French pronunciation. The real old timers who ate there may remember. Back in early 70 or late 60's or so, there was an alleged break in there and the old woman who lived there alone was attacked, dress ripped, china cabinet turned over breaking everything in it, etc. The alleged perps. threatened to come back so several of us were assigned to stake the place out. The cruisers were taken away and three of us stayed inside. One night about three in the morning, the lady came down the stairs from the bedroom wearing a long winter coat and began dancing around in the living room. Under the coat she was wearing the torn dress that was allegedly torn in the attack. If that was not strange enough, she went to the kitchen and openned the refrigerator. She began ranting because one of the officers had eaten some of the cookies he had found there! Some time later, it came out that she was becoming ill and very lonely. She had made the story up. Having gone through over 7 years of watching my mother suffer from Alzheimer disease, I can well understand what went on and I feel for any relatives she may have had. Chez Albert should be on a list along with Leone's, and Lito's, and others who took care of the guys for many years. The long forgotten place that we drove by hundreds of times right up the road from Seat Pleasant station that we never paid any attention to. I only knew there was a sign on the driveway but had no idea what it stood for until I had to spend a couple nights in the place!
